Myanmar Development Foundation is standing with the people of Myanmar to end the atrocity of military coup. Myanmar Development Foundation also denounce the unlawful act of military coup detaining Aung San Suu Kyi, the leader of Myanmar and other elected senior government officials including civil society members. We strongly urge the military generals to release those detainees unconditionally, relinquish the power they seized, and recognize the result from November 8th election.
Myanmar Development Foundation will follow the policies and guidelines imposed by the United States government that sanction on military generals, their businesses and associates in Myanmar who directed the coup.
A devastating 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar on Friday, causing widespread destruction and unimaginable loss. Thousands of lives have already been lost, and the death toll continues to rise with each passing day.
This is the most powerful earthquake to hit Myanmar in over a century, leaving countless families displaced and in urgent need of medical aid, shelter, and support.
My heart goes out to the people of Myanmar during this time of immense tragedy and loss. The Myanmar Development Foundation stands in solidarity with those affected and is committed to providing long-term support, care, and resources in the years ahead.

After the coup d’état, the Myanmar military arrested Aung San Suu Kyi and other senior elected government officials on 1 February 2021. In response, a number of government employees voluntarily withdrew from civil duty, denouncing the coup as unlawful and refusing to work under military dictatorship. Within a week, the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM) emerged as a non-violent form of protest, aiming to paralyze the military council across all levels of government.
Myanmar Development Foundation fully supports the Civil Disobedience Movement and its commitment to peaceful protest in Myanmar. More than US $100,000 was raised through a Facebook fundraising campaign, and over US $122,221.38 has been distributed to support those suffering hardship and resisting harm and atrocities inflicted by pro-military police forces.

Myanmar Development Foundation implemented additional humanitarian projects following the success of the campaigns.
