COVID outbreak in Myanmar was devastating blow to the people of Myanmar while suffering hardship under recent military coup. Hundreds of COVID-19 victims are reported death every day, yet still infections were sweeping across the country leaving families and communities in despair.

Myanmar Development Foundation is working with the partners and team on the ground to deliver urgently needed medical devices, PPE, hygiene supplies, and critical care to those who are in needs.

Myanmar Development Foundation had also successfully delivered total of 30 Oxygen Concentrators along with the medical supplies directly shipped from US to Myanmar. The operation to combat COVID-19 is still being carried out by the team in Myanmar trying to save as many lives as possible. Doctors, volunteers, activists, project managers- they all come together from both local and oversea, and collaborate in time of crisis when people need us the most.

We are also getting report about combating COVID on the ground every day. There are signs of pathway to recovery, but the COVID storm that rocked the entire nation is not completely over yet.  One of the COVID patients treated by our team is recovering because of the oxygen supply we provided, but her husband was shot dead by Myanmar army force. Her son was shot too, but he survived the bullet wound.

While local hospitals are completely overwhelmed by the COVID patients, volunteers and doctors who risk their life with limited protected equipment in order to save COVID patients are extraordinary. They are not just risking their life from getting COVID infection, but also from the danger of potentially getting arrested while transporting the medical devices, and killed by the army force.

Myanmar Development Foundation would like to thank to all our donors, volunteers, doctors, and activists who are working tirelessly day and night during the most difficult time of our nation.
